Madagascar
Madagascar is one of the world’s poorest countries and is increasingly positioning its extractive industries as a driver of economic growth.
Yet communities often report limited consultation, restricted participation, and insufficient mechanisms for informed consent, key contributors to local conflict.
This is especially visible in the long-running tensions around Fort Dauphin, where high grade titanium is mined.

Our work
At the request of civil society, GCPB is developing an interfaith dialogue process based on the Courageous Conversations model developed in South Africa.
Under the leadership of the Anglican Bishop of Antananarivo, national and local-level dialogues will address the historical and current issues contributing to conflict. Supported by trained mediators, these processes aim to create an enabling environment for long-term, peaceful change.

Cornerstone Churches
The Cornerstone Churches, St Mary’s Warwick, St John’s Edinburgh, and Christ Church Winchester, play a central role in anchoring the GCPB’s work to build a movement in support of peacebuilding and reconciliation in conflict-affected communities, ensuring that peacebuilding is both locally rooted and globally connected.
