Cornerstone Churches
Locally Rooted. Globally Connected. Faith-Led for Peace.
The Cornerstone Churches, St Mary’s Warwick, St John’s Edinburgh, and Christ Church Winchester, anchor the Global Centre for Peacebuilding & Business in a living tradition of Christian peacebuilding.
They play a central role in shaping and sustaining a movement committed to reconciliation in conflict-affected communities worldwide.
Through these churches, peacebuilding becomes both locally rooted in everyday Christian practice and globally connected to communities experiencing resource-related conflict. They help ground GCPB’s mission in worship, ministry, and discipleship.

A Shared Liturgy and Practice for Peace
The Cornerstone Churches are developing a shared liturgy and practice for peace, drawing on a theology of Difference, the belief that diversity, disagreement, and division can be engaged constructively and redemptively.
This emerging liturgical tradition equips congregations to:
- embody Christian peacebuilding in local ministry
- engage faithfully with conflict and division
- cultivate habits of listening, patience, and reconciliation
Building a Sustained Discipline of Peacebuilding
The Cornerstone Churches help nurture a long-term discipline within the wider Church to support peacebuilding efforts. They create pathways connecting local congregations with faith communities directly affected by conflict, ensuring that:
- prayer and solidarity reach across borders
- peacebuilding is held within the daily life of the Church
- global partnerships are sustained over time
Empowering Local Faith Leaders
Crucially, the Cornerstone Churches serve as platforms to empower faith leaders in conflict-affected regions.
Through accompaniment, shared learning, and practical collaboration, they support leaders in developing context-specific peace ministries while remaining aligned with GCPB’s wider mission and the Church’s calling as a credible, trusted peacebuilding actor.
